Africa-China Poverty Reduction and Development Conference, 18-20 November 2014, Addis Ababa – Ethiopia
Host: The African Union Commission, the Government of Ethiopia, UNDP, International Poverty Reduction Centre in China (IPRCC),
The theme of this year’s Africa-China Conference is “Industrial Development: Cross-Perspectives from Africa and China”. This theme has been selected because the African continent is undergoing an economic and social transformation, and according to ‘Agenda 2063’ it is imperative that African countries focus on industrial development as a consolidated basis for economic diversification, and act in a more concerted manner in order to enhance integration in regional and global value chains. The Conference will specifically look into three areas under this theme:
- Scenario analysis of challenges and opportunities for Africa’s industrial development in an increasingly integrated and globalized economy building on regional and global value chains;
- Experience from rapidly industrializing countries in both Africa and Asia to unleash industrial growth for equitable, sustainable and inclusive growth; and
Developing robust public-private partnerships to promote innovation and technology transfer for sustainable economic and social transformation in Africa.
