Whichever system you use, typing the list of references is tedious. It is essential that you follow exactly the recommendations in the instructions to authors. You must pay special attention to:

• where punctuation is required;
• which digits should be in bold, italic or underlined;
• where you place the publication year;
• whether titles of papers should be written in lower-case with only the first letter of the first word capitalised, or With the First Letters Capitalised for All Major Words;
• whether there are hanging indents;
• the amount of space between references;
• the format required for quoting books or chapters in books.
