WHY PUBLISH

Publication in academic or scientific journals may be important for several reasons.

• Promotions and career prospects for academics and scientists usually depend on the number of papers they have published and on how frequently these are cited by others. Is this something that you are concerned about?
• Publication enables other researchers to reflect upon your findings. They will assess the inferences and conclusions you have drawn in your paper in order to develop their own thinking. They might even, as a result, change their own views. Do you have something to contribute to that process?
